Elijah R. Payne

E. R. Payne died at his farm home west of Keenes at 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday. Mr. Payne was 69 years old. He was a son of John and Nancy Payne of Wayne county. ,p> He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Ruey Bolin and MIss Ola payne, the latter at home, and Mrs. Bernice Terrell, and two sons, Fay and Albert, and an adopted grandson, and two brothers, Ross and Ray, and one sister, Mrs. Olie Ehmers.Funeral services will be held at the home, conducted by Rev. Chas. L. Wood, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Mr. Payne was a brother of John Payne of Mt. Vernon, who was killed last Saturday when struck by an L. & N. ralroad engine while walking on the tracks. Funeral services for John Payne have been held but it is stated he has not yet been buried, and that the brothers will be buried at the same time tomorrow.
