Marsha L. Peterson, 58, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Monday, Aug. 28, 1950, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Betty L. (Sursa) Askew Davis.

She married Paul Farthing, and he preceded her in death in October of 2003.

She married Donald I. "Pete" Peterson on Aug. 28, 2004, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Ted Anderson and the Rev. Merritt Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Catherine Cemetery in Woodlawn. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Marsha is survived by a daughter, Anita Woodworth and Allen Gustafson of Mt. Vernon; a grandson, Isaiah Barnes of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Ron Davis and Lori Keller of Mt. Vernon; Jerry Davis and wife Joyce of New Minden and Herbert Davis and wife Karen of McLeansboro; three sisters, Barbara Hamilton of Mt. Vernon; Joyce Lindhorst and husband Ralph of Mt. Vernon and Jo Dudley and husband Victor of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; best friends, Dellas Oxford and Marsha Osborn of Mt. Vernon; and very special friend, Joe Stone of Mt. Vernon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, both husbands, three sisters, one brother, one niece and one nephew preceded her in death.

Marsha owned and operated Little Peoples Day Care, was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and was an avid bowler.
