Betty O. Phelps, 80, Route 3, died at 7 am Feb. 1, 1989, at her home.

Mrs. Phelps was born Oct. 14, 1908, in Jefferson county, a daughter of Henry E. and Iva (Cates) Hutchison.

Aug 29, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, she married Clarence Alva Phelps, who survives.

Services will be 11 am Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 9:30 am Friday at the funeral home.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Phelps is survived by two sons, Nelson A. Phelps and wife, Earlene of Spokane, Wash., and Gene Phelps and wife Rocky, of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Bonnadine) Eater of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Glenn (Mary) Bateman of Pinedale, Wyo., and Mrs. Richard (Estalee) Betterton of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Phelps was a member of Long Prairie Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
