J. R. PHILLIPS Joe R. Phillips, 73, of 623 Carlson St., Sycamore, Ill., formerly of Low Point and Henry, Ill., died this morning, November 9, 1966, at the Sycamore Municipal Hospital. Born December 4, 1892 at Mt. Vernon, Ill., he was the son of John and Mary Tate Phillips and was married to Verda Hess in Peoria, Ill., November 21, 1936. He was a self-employed painter. Surviving are his wife; one son, Arthur of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; a step-son, Robert of Hanna City, Ill.; four grandchildren; four brothers, Burrell and Harley, both of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; John of Oneco, Florida; Burt of Moweaqua, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. Bert (Maude) Huff of Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. William (Blossom)Herron of Washburn, Ill.; Mrs. Doris Cooley of Moweaqua, Ill.; and Mrs. Myrtle Thomas of Mt. Vernon, Ill. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Van Natta Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Harold M. Kelley officiating.Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Graveside services will be held in the Henry City Cemetery in Henry, Ill. at 3 p.m. Friday.
