Mary M. Pickett, 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at her residence.

She was born in Mariana, Ark., on May 30, 1930. a daughter of Fred and Mary (Smith) Clark.

She was married to Arthur Pickett.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Mary is survived by her children, Jimmy Atterberry, Albert Crowder, Peggy Dickey, Betty Pickett, Roy Lee Pickett and Arthur Pickett, all of Mt. Vernon, Jerry Pickett of St. Louis, Fred Pickett of Madison, Wise., and Willie Pickett of Decatur; 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Hughes of Mt. Vernon and Martha Freeman of Decatur; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, twin sons, and one daughter.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jackson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of the Jackson Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
