Minerva Palatine (Willis) Pickett
Mrs. Minerva Palatine PICKETT died at 8:30 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claude HAMBLEN in Chestnut, IL. Her age was 72y4m28d. She was born September 24, 1865 in Jefferson County and had resided with her daughter for the past 4 years. The body was brought to Mt. Vernon and funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Hams Grove Church and burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Services will be conducted by Rev. Cyrus MAULDING. The body will remain at the home of John ALLEN, 413 S. 18th Street, until noon tomorrow. Mrs. PICKETT was united in marriage with B. J. PICKETT, who preceded her in death April 5, 1930. She was the daughter of Hugh L. and Ruthie Jane WILLIS. A devoted woman, she was a member of the Webbs Prairie Church. Surviving are three daughters, Luvera LEONARD of Waltonville, Florence COTHRAN of Herrin and Leona HAMBLEN of Chestnut, IL; three brothers, George WILLIS of Bonnie, Hughel of Macedonia, and Elijah of Ewing; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
