Tracy Leon Pierce, 44, of Mt. Vernon, died Sunday morning, Dec. 6, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1965, in Mt. Vernon, to Roy L. and Connie (Williams) Pierce.

He was a certified nurses assistant, and he was of the Baptist faith.

He married Sherri (McClain) on May 1, 1992, in Mt. Vernon, and she survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by, a son, Billy Rawls of Mt. Vernon; a grandson, Riley Cottrill of Wayne City; mother Connie Grimes and husband Walt of Ina; father Roy L. Pierce and wife Dorothy of Sesser; sister Vonda Rister and husband Jeff of Ina; sister Christy Jo Savell of Mississippi; stepsister Bobbie Lewis of Albion; and stepbrother David Grimes and wife Betty Jo of Albion.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buel and Allene Williams; grandparents, John and Gladys Pierce; mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Alice McClain; and a stepsister, Jo Donna Reeder.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Dale Burzynski officiating. Burial will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
