Charles Edgar Piercy
Charles Edgar Piercy, 60 died Thursday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at Good Samaritan Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He was a farmer, and made his home on Route 2, Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Maurice L. Paxton officiating. Burial will be in Boyd cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Piercy was born 9/10/1899 in Boyd, the son of Henry and Susan (Fiser) Piercy. He was married in Mt. Vernon on Feb. 10, 1920 to Fern Marie Steele, who survives. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. Susie Piercy of Boyd; one son Dewight, of Mt. Vernon; five daughters, Mrs. Jean Yearwood, Mrs. Velma England, Mrs. Theresa Mayo and Mrs. Evelyn Goddard of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Freida Lane of Opdyke; two brothers, Nathan Piercy of Centralia and Walter Piercy of Mt. Vernon,; eight sisters, Mrs. Ida Carpenter, Mrs. Lennie Carpenter,Mrs. Lillie Marlow, and Mrs. Ada Harvery all of Dix, Mrs. Mae Harvey of Peoria, and Mrs. Margaret Wegmann, Mrs. Nellie German and Mrs. Fay Champ all of Woodlawn. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren.
