Dewight H. Piercy
Dewight H. Piercy, 74, Mt. Vernon, died 4:08 p.m. December 5, 1996, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. He worked at several area service stations, Yearwood Implement Co., and 15 years at the Mt. Vernon Airport, where he retired. He was born May 11, 1922, in Centralia, a son of Charles Piercy and Ferne (Steele) Piercy. January 2, 1953, in Mt. Vernon, he married Wanda McIntyre, who survives. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Cemetery with the Rev. Garlin Burris officiating. Those attending the graveside service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. In addition to his wife, Wanda Piercy of Mt. Vernon, Mr. Piercy is survived by a son, Kenny D. Piercy and wife Linda of Bonnie; a daughter Patricia Johnson and husband Alan of Mt. Vernon; three granddaughters, Amanda Johnson of Mt. Vernon, Michelle Piercy of Bonnie and Ashley Piercy of Bonnie; three sisters Rheba Yearwood of Texico, Freida Lane and husband Verdon of Opdyke, and Velma England and husband William of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Piercy was a World War II veteran, serving in Italy and Africa. He was a member of Mt. Vernon VFW Post 1376.
