Granville Pigg
Granville Pigg, a well known resident of Mt. Vernon, practically dropped dead this morning about 10 o'clock while unloading cinders from a car on the Jefferson-Southwestern railroad in this city. Mr. Pigg's death was most sudden and unexpected and he was quite dead before a physician could reach his side. Mr. Pigg had complained for some time about severe pains in the region of the heart, it is said, but no alarm was felt and he had not consulted a physician. He was working for Ed Rough at the time he was stricken with the attack which ended his life. Mr. Pigg was 69 years old, and is survived by his widow and four children, and two brothers and other relatives. Coroner Walter Buckham was notified of the death and an inquest will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Pigg was a member of a well known family in the city, and an excellent citizen and had many friends. Funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Hopewell. Rev. A. Smith of Dix, will conduct the services.
