Moss Herbert Pigg
Moss Herbert Pigg of Route 7, well known Mt. Vernon business man and past governor of the Moose Lodge, died at 1:30 pm Sunday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. His death occurred four days after his 64 birthday. Mr. Pigg, who had been in failing health for some time, had been a hospital patient for the past month. For 31 years Mr. Pigg was employed at Starr Brothers here and after that operated the Pepsi-Cola Distributing Co. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Dodson will officiate and burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 5:00 pm today. Mr. Pigg was born July 3, 1899 in Jefferson county and was a well liked lifetime resident of this community. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Granville M. Pigg. On November 3, 1920 he was married at Benton, to Eva Green, who survives. A past governor of the Moose Lodge, he was also a member of the Legion of the Moose and the Fellowship Degree of the Moose Lodge. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Wilbur Pigg of Mt. Vernon; two brothers Ernie Pigg and Verner Pigg, both of Mt. Vernon; and two grandsons.
