Alfred Piper
ALF PIPER, aged 89, died at his home in Franklin County, August 12th, of pneumonia.
He was born in Smith County, Tennessee and came to this county when quite a young boy and for more than 75 years had lived in this and adjoining counties. His home when he lived in this county was Elk Prairie. For 15 years he belonged to the Christian Church and died with the full belief that he was going to the Land of Eternal Rest. Mr Piper was a soldier in the Mexican War. All of his family that is left is two sons, J.W. Piper of this city, and Joseph Piper of Murphysboro. The funeral was held Sunday at Hickory. Hill.
