Lawrence Pitman, 91, of Scheller departed Life at 6:01 a.m. Friday March 31, 2006, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Pitman was born February 8, 1915, in Scheller to Joseph and Anna (Barnett) Pitman.

He was a farmer, licensed carpenter, coal miner and had retired from Freeman United Coal Mine No. 3 in Scheller.

He was baptized at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon on July 18, 2003.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, with James P. Newell Officiating. Burial will follow at Tamaroa Cemetery.

Mr. Pitman is survived by a Daughter, Patricia Burton of Waltonville; one sister Beulah Tefft of Arcola; one granddaughter Monica Rey-Wilson and husband Martin of Ferguson, Mo.; two great grandsons, Elliot and Galen Wilson; and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five half brothers and five half sisters.
