Lawrence Pitman
Lawrence Pitman, 91, of Scheller departed Life at 6:01 a.m. Friday March 31, 2006, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Pitman was born February 8, 1915, in Scheller to Joseph and Anna (Barnett) Pitman. He was a farmer, licensed carpenter, coal miner and had retired from Freeman United Coal Mine No. 3 in Scheller. He was baptized at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon on July 18, 2003. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, with James P. Newell Officiating. Burial will follow at Tamaroa Cemetery. Mr. Pitman is survived by a Daughter, Patricia Burton of Waltonville; one sister Beulah Tefft of Arcola; one granddaughter Monica Rey-Wilson and husband Martin of Ferguson, Mo.; two great grandsons, Elliot and Galen Wilson; and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, five half brothers and five half sisters. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Tamaroa Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Newell Funeral Home, 505 East Main Street, Waltonville, IL 62894.
