Morris Lee Porter
Morris Lee Porter of 1702 Franklin, died at 6:40 pm Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and five days. A Jefferson county school teacher for 29 years, Mr. Porter was retired. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Hopewell Methodist church, where he had been a member since he was eleven years old. The Rev. A. B. Coldfelder will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix where friends may call after 2:00 pm Tuesday. Mr. Porter was born Dec. 28, 1902, in Mt. Vernon, the son of John Lyman and Lottie B. (Bradley) Porter. On April 5, 1924, in this city, he was married to Ida B. Soper, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert A. Porter of Goldsborro, North Carolina; a daughter, Mr. Marjorie L. Haley of Plainview, Ill.; and six grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son.
