Geneva (McCrary) Quarterman
Geneva Quarterman, 78, of Dix died 9 am Nov. 7, 1995 in her home in Dix. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Quarterman was born June 7, 1917, a daughter of William and Ruth (Hayes) McCrary. May 22, 1937, in Jacksonville, she married William "Bill" Quarterman, who preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1977. Services will be 2 pm Friday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Verniel Garren and Grant Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Grove County Line Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm Thursday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix. Mrs. Quarterman is survived by three sons, Benny Quarterman and wife Penny of Kell, Eddie Quarterman of Dix and Gene Quarterman of Dix; seven daughters, Barbara Benjamin and husband Gerald of Iuka, Irene Southerland and husband Ron of Iuka, Kathy Stuber and husband Wayne of Iuka; Lorene Sloat and husband Ronnie of Centralia, Mildred Linder and husband Ivan of Salem, Susie Smith of Dix and Leta Quarterman of Dix, 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and a brother A.T. McCrary of Centralia. She was a member of Dix Christian Church. She attended Woods School and Dix High School. Mrs. Quarterman was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson, Curtis Lee Sloat; and two brothers, William Ivan McCrary and Bob McCrary.
