The Rev. Sr., 78, Bluford died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was a tree surgeon and operated the Ransey and Son Nursery Co. for several years before his retirement in 1980.

Mr. Ramsey was born in Opdyke April 29, 1905, the son of George and Lula (Bumpus) Ramsey.

He was married in Jefferson County to Leona Snow who survives.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Verlin Scarbrough officiating, Burial will follow in Cubb Prairie Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Ira G. Ramsey Jr., of Bluford and Robert F. Ramsey of Mt. Vernon, three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Maxine) Funkhouser of Lemont, Mrs. Ross (shelby) Cockrum of West City and Mrs. Norval (Christine) Smith of Mt. Vernon, 30 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother, Kenneth Ramsey of Fairfield, and several neices and nephews.

Mr. Ramsey was an ordained minister of the Evangelistic Messengers Association and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one daughter.
