Robert Ramsey
Robert F. Ramsey, 62, 800 Main Street died at 3:50 a.m. Sept. 16, 1986 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion. Mr. Ramsey was born March 14, 1924, in Jefferson county, the son of Ira and Leona (Snow) Ramsey Sr. He first married Joan Padlock and later married Linda Ward on Oct. 2, 1976 in Mt. Vernon. She survives. Services will be 10:30ca.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Buss Hart officiating, Burial will follow in Little Grove Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon Friends may call between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Lori Beth Ramsey of Mt. Vernon, Shelby Ramsey of Phoenix, Ariz., Kathy Ramsey of San Diego, and Kimberly Ramsey of San Luis Rey, Calif.; three sons, Bobby Joe Ramsey of Modesto, Calif., Mike Ramsey of the U.S. Air Force in Witchita Falls, Texas and Shawn Ramsey of Chula Vista, Calif., a brother Ira Ramsey Jr., of Bluford; three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Funkhouser of Lemont, Mrs. Shelby Cockrum of West City, and Mrs. Christine Beard of Mt. Vernon; and 11 grandchildren. The deceased was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award with four bronze oak leaf clusters, the Good Conduct Medal with two bronze loops and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon, V.F.W. Post 1376 and Joe Biagi Post 28 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Heather Marie Ramsey, and a son Tracey Ramsey.
