Viola (Dodson) Reaney, 77, of Christopher and formerly of the Boyd area died 2:50 pm March 24, 1997, at Herrin Hospital, Herrin.

Mrs. Reaney was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Gale, a daughter of Armenius and Mary (Smith) Dodson.

Dec. 5, 1936, she married Harold R. Reaney, who preceded her in death April 14, 1976.

Graveside services will be 11 am Thursday at Hopewell Cemetery with Brother Dean Guyman officiating. There will be no visitation, and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery Thursday morning. The Osborn Funeral Home in Dix is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Reaney is survived by two sons, Wayne Reaney and wife Janice Sue of Calvert City, Ky., and Larry Reaney and wife Linda of Mulkeytown; one daughter, Joann Hopper and husband Richard of Dix; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Jackson of Olive Branch.

Mrs. Reaney was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and one grandson.
