Veneta Rector, 84, of Mt. Vernon died 1:25 a.m. March 16, 2006, at St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Rector was born June 23, 1921, in Mt. Vernon to William and Mattie (Tate) Fyke.

She married Wayne M. Rector April 26, 1949, in Henderson, Ky.; he survives.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. The Revs. Bill Miller and Kenneth Holland will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Rector is survived by her husband, Wayne M. Rector of Mt.Vernon; two daughters, Deborah Jones and husband Terry of Dix and Tammy Sinks and husband Neil of Woodlawn; grandchildren Jamie Green and husband Jeremy of Wayne City, Kenny Jones and fiancee Desiree Hart of Mt. Vernon, Dennis Sinks of Woodlawn and Alex Jones of Dix; great-grandchildren Allison and Abby Green of Wayne City; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schmidt of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; a brother, Donald Fyke; and two sisters, Eva Gossage and Genevieve Boster, preceded her in death.
