Ex-Resident Sam Reed Dies At E. St. Louis Sam Reed, 58, a former Mt. Vernon resident, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday at his home, 9957 South Road, Fairview, East St. Louis. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Schildknecht Funeral Home on Route 50, at Fairview, Ill. The body will lie in state at the Schildknecht Funeral Home where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. today. He was the son of Humes and Addie Reed. On Jan. 1, 1928, he was married to Edna Jenkins, who survives. He is also survived by a son, James reed, a daughter, MRs. Anna Nelson; two grandchlidren, all of Fairview, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Noma Swem of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ruth Rosenburg of Wayne City. Mr. Reed was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Christian shurch of Belleville.

Reed's first wife, Effie Florene Bennett, my 1st cousin, 3 times removed. Humes B. Reed (1863-1948) and Effie Florence Bennett married June 10, 1890 in Jefferson Co, IL. They divorced and each remarried. |
