Alvin Ray Reynolds, 78, a former employee of the Mt. Vernon State Game Farm, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday at Hickory Grove Manor Nursing Home.

Mr. Reynolds, known as Ray by his many friends throughout Jefferson county, was one of the county's most active and loyal Republican workers for many years.

For many years he operated a grocery store on College Avenue. For a long time Mr. Reynolds assisted in the state's quail-raising program at the game farm and became an expert in the care of game birds.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home. The Rev. Everett Lemay will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, where friends my call after 5:00 p.m. today.

Mr. Reynolds was born September 3, 1892 in Jefferson county, the son of Alvis V. and Mary Ann (Taylor) Reynolds.

He was a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include six nieces, Mrs. Betty Newell of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Dorothy Isaacs of Roxana, Ill., Mrs. Mary Harmon of Roxana, Ill., Mrs. Fay Keef of Panama City, Fla., Mrs. Edith Gilbert of Panama city, Fla., and Mrs. Edith Farmer of Evansville, Ind., and three nephews, Charles Yearwood, Walter Yearwood and John Yearwood of Mt. Vernon.
