John Riley Rhynes, a good citizen of Ina, Died last Thursday June 16, 1955 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Mt Vernon, Il at the age of 76. He had been in failing health for several months and suffered a stroke just before his death.

Mr Rhynes was born in Elk Prairie Township Sept 30, 1878 the son of Simeon and Minerva Ann (Shehorn) Rhynes.

He was married to Edith Harmon at Benton June 17, 1907.

Mr Rhynes was a member of Ina Freewill Baptist Church and the IOOF lodge.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Kenneth Harmon Rhynes of Bonnie and John Nelson Rhynes of Mt Vernon. Three daughters Mrs Vona Beckman of East Peoria, Mrs Ethel Skidmore and Mrs Letha Belle Beckman of Mt Vernon. Il. 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Thomas Oakley Rhynes and Walter Lee Rhynes of Ina.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM Saturday at the Ina Free Will Baptist church conducted by the Rev. Marsh Harpole. Burial was at the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.
