Arthur Logan Richards
"P.R." Richards Arthur Logan "P.R." Richards, 82, of 209 S. 12th St., died Saturday at 2:05 pm at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Richards was born in Jefferson county on Oct 23, 1890, the son of Amos R. and Sarah Jane (Rich) Richards. On Feb. 24, 1956, he was married to Pearl Jackson, in Hernando, Miss. He was first married in 1913 to Gertie Estes, who died in 1945. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Mr. Richards was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Veterans of World War I, the D.A.V., Forty and Eight, and was past commander of five organizations. He was an employe for 40 years of the Mt. Vernon Car Company. Funeral services will be held Tuesdday at 1:30 pm at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Van Horn and the Rev. C.R. Walker officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Freinds may call at the funeral chapel after 9 pm today. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion. Mr. Richards is survived by his wife; three sons, Kenneth L., Mattoon, Robert L., Salem, and Lester A., Lima, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Atkinson, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Gladys Martin, Henderson Ky., and Mrs. Verna Ruth Oathout, Zion; a step-daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Beasley, Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Lester Richards, Waukegan; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Myers, Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Stella Crocher, Mexico, Mo; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
