Parley Riggs Dies At Age 73; Rites Friday Parley Riggs, 73, of Rt. 3, died Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Riggs, who was an aide at the Downey Veterans Hospital near Chicago, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ina Funeral Home. The Rev. Bus Hart will officiate. Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141, of which Mr. Riggs was a member, will be in charge of military rites. Burial will be in Kirk cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Mr. Riggs was born Jan. 5, 1896, in Jefferson county, the son of John and Elizabeth Kelley Riggs. He was married Aug. 16, 1917, to Verne Spurlock, who survives. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Riggs is also survived by one son, Robert Nelson Riggs, Dallas, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Freda Hughey and Mrs. Maxine Dycus, both of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Henry Riggs, Bonnie; nine grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
