Joanne (Hutchison) Riley
(photo included) *PEKIN *- Joanne Riley, age 74, of Pekin passed away at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at her home. She was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Mount Vernon, Ill., a daughter of Robert and Mildred Irvin Hutchison. Joanne married James D. Riley on Aug. 2, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Ill. He survives. Joanne lived in Mount Vernon until she was married, moved with her husband to Centralia and shortly thereafter to Pekin, where she spent her adult life. She worked initially in the school cafeteria so that she could be home with her son. She later worked at Pekin Insurance and eventually Caterpillar Inc., where she retired with 25 years of service. Joanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She especially enjoyed her family get-togethers. She attended Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. Joanne is survived by her son, James Eric (Sheryl) Riley of Pekin; her three grandchildren, Justin Riley of Pekin, Lindsey Riley of Chicago and Dane Riley of Pekin; her brother, Ron (Sherry) Hutchison of Shawnee, Kan.; and her sister, Mary Ellen Charleton of Bonita Springs, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life service for Joanne will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin, with Pastor Lloyd Brock officiating. The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the local food pantries, OSF Hospice, The American Cancer Society or Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
