Lloyd H. Roberson, 82, of Mt. Vernon died 7:53 a.m. Dec. 16, 2002, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Care in Mt. Vernon.

He was a coal miner, last working at Freeman No. 6.

Mr. Roberson was born May 23, 1920, in Waltonville to Dow and Ethal (Hall) Roberson.

He married Margaret (Hamilton) Roberson July 21, 1947, in Mayfield, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser. The Rev. Jes Allen will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser.

Mr. Roberson is survived by two grandchildren, Stephanie R. Fowler of Birmingham, Ala. and Russell Shane Fowler of Jasper Ala.; two sisters, Alberta Page and husband Olen of Sesser, and Hazel Page of Sesser; one brother, Clyde Roberson and wife Helen of Bonnie.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of U.M.W.A. and a life member of Waltonville VFW.

Mr. Roberson was preceded in death by a son, Russell L. Roberson, and one daughter, Marcella S. Fowler.
