Hildred L. Roberts, 72, Route 1, Waltonville, a retired employee of the International Shoe Co., died at 3:30 a.m. today at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Jefferson County on Sept. 20, 1906, the daughter of Eli and Mary (Hall) Fairchild.

She was first married to Neil Lennnington, and later married James Albert Roberts, in Mt. Vernon in 1935. He survives.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Long Prairie Christian Church and of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post 9153, Waltonville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fry Funeral home in Waltonville, with the Rev. Jim Piercy officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition to her husband, Albert, Mrs. Roberts is survived by three sons, Malcolm Lennington, Phoenix, Ariz., Neil Lennington, Mitchellsburg, KY., and Nolen Lennington, Route 1, Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Audrey) Merriman, Creve Coeur; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchilren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
