James "Red" Albert Roberts
James "Red" Albert Roberts, 82, Route 1, Waltonville, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Roberts was born in Jefferson County on Dec. 7, 1899 the son of James Monroe and Laura Jane (Bravard) Roberts. He married Hildred Fairchild in Jefferson County on Nov. 20, 1932. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 1979. Mr. Roberts was a direct descendent of three Jefferson County pioneer families, the Gilberts, the Bravards and the Roberts. He was of the Christian faith and a charter member of the Jefferson County Coon Hunters Association. Mr. Roberts is survived by two sons, Neal Lenington, Mitchellsburg, Ky., and Nolan Lenington, Route 1, Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Audrey) Merriman, Creve Couer, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bobby and Malcolm; four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fry and Frick Funeral home in Waltonville, the Rev. Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at the Knob Prairie Cemetery near Waltonville. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday.
