Robert Troy Rogers, 87, of Robinson, a former Mt. Vernon resident, died at 11:45 pm Tuesday at the Crawford Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Hopewell United Methodist Church northeast of Mt. Vernon, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Gene Estes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.The body will lie in state at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Robinson, where friends may call after 7:00 pm today. At 10:00 am Thursday the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Mr. Rogers was born March 2, 1882, in Mt. Vernon, the son of James Matthew and Alice (Hutchinson) Rogers.

He was married to Cora Elizabeth Chastain, who died in 1954.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Opal Shepherd and Mrs. Ruth Hazelton, both of Robinson; one brother, Frank Rogers of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Inez Hayes and Mrs. Alma McCambridge, both of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Lela Shanklin of Hopkinsville, Ky.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
