Mildred H. Russell, 81, of Mt. Vernon died 11:07 p.m. Nov. 19, 2000, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Russell was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Piggott, Ark. to Guy and Sarah Jane (Plumley) House.

She married Ralph Laverne Russell Nov. 22, 1939, in St. Louis; he died Aug. 15, 2000.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home. Brother Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Russell is survived by three daughters, Sharon Karch and husband Paul of Centralia, Peggy Barr and husband Mike of Mt. Vernon, Brenda McGarvey and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene House of Mt. Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Lena Faye Gregory and Thelma Dial both of Mt. Vernon; also several nieces and nephews survive. She was a long time member of the Casey Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. (Believed to mean preceded in death by)
