Hazel Irene Sammons, 81, of Mt. Vernon died 11:35 a.m. Jan 3, 1998 at her home. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Sammons was born Aug 31, 1916, in Arenzville, a daughter of James Ray and Ada L. (Hacker) Kline.

July 19, 1940, in Clayton, MO she married William Harvey Sammons, who died Nov 16, 1988.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hughey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sammons is survivied by two sons, James H. Sammons and Sue of Mt. Vernon and William R. Sammons and Theresa of Louisville, KY; two grandchildren, Michelle Ashby and Chris of Mt. Vernon and Amie William of Mt. Vernon; a great-granddaughter, Colleen Ashby.

Mrs. Sammons was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
