Ira E. "Bud" Sampson
Ira E. "Bud" SAMPSON, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 2:30 p.m. March 26, 2003, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. He was a truck driver for Viking Trucking Co. for 33 years. Mr. SAMPSON was born March 20, 1914, in Scammon, Kan., to George and Josephine (STAGE) SAMPSON. He marrid Majorie (VAUGHN) SAMPSON July 1, 1940, in St. Charles, MO; she survives. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Russell WOLFE and Everett LEMAY will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. In addition to his wife, Mr. SAMPSON is survivied by two sons, Blaine SAMPSON and wife Peggy of Lawrence, Kan., and Mark SAMPSON and wife Debbie of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Jan LIVINGSTON and husband Sam of Kingman, Kan.; 4 grandchildren, Scott, Stacy, Mary and Sam Jr.; a brother, Millard SAMPSON of Lyons, Kan.; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. SAMPSON was part of the church family at Bakerville Freewill Baptist Church. He was a strong teamster union member. He was a loving husband and father and devoted his life to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
