Mrs. Elizabeth P. SATTERFIELD, wife of the late Judge J. R. Satterfield, died at the family home, at 113 North Casey street, at 5:00 o'clock this morning after an illness of six or seven weeks duration.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson and was born in Sumner county, Tenn., July 3rd, 1816, consequently was 83 years, 1 month, and 15 days of age at the time of her demise. When two years of age, the subject of sketch emigrated with her parents to Illinois and settled in Jefferson county where she has resided ever since, taking rank among the oldest pioneers of the community.

In 1832 she was married to Judge J. R. Satterfield. From this union eleven children were born, of which only the survivors are Mrs. S. D. Cooper and Miss Laura Satterfield, of this city, and Mrs. Prudence Fry, of Denver, Colo.

Deceased joined the Methodist church when a young girl and from that time till her death lived a devoted Christian life. While on her way to attend one of the meetings of the M. E. conference during the pastorate of the late Rev. J. B. Thompson in this city, seven or eight years ago, she had the misfortune to fall on the board sidewalk in the neighborhood of her home and injured herself quite severely. She never entirely recovered from the effects of this accident and during the greater part of the past winter was confined to the house by lameness and the infimities of age.

Of the 13 children in her father's family the only survivors since the death of Mrs. Satterfield are Wm. Fletcher and Abe Johnson and Mrs. Jane Armour.

Funeral services will be held, under the ministration of Rev. J. F. Harmon, at the late home of deceased at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. Interment in Old Union cemetery. Friends of family invited.
