David Schreiber
David Schreiber, 64, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Schreiber was born on Friday, February 18, 1949 in Watseka, Illinois the son of the late Gilbert and Mary Ann (Weakley) Schreiber. He married Deonna "Dee" Melton on June 10, 1978 in Huntington, Tennessee. Surviving family members include his wife: Deonna "Dee" Schreiber of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; daughter: Davina Overby and husband Brad of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Artie Highfill of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; daughters: Tammy Melvin and husband Johnny of DuQuoin, Illinois and Lee Ann Smith of Encino, California; 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Tobin of Encion, California, Trent, Tyler and Trevor Barber of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Tylyn and Luther Highfill of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Rayleigh and Barton Overbey of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 great grandchildren: Ellee Barber of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Liam and Andrew Tobin of Encion, California; brother: James Schreiber of Gilman, Illinois; 2 sisters: Janice Clark of Gilman, Illinois and Mary Jane Fregeau and husband Dave of Bradley, Illinois; several nieces and nephews also survive. David served as an MP during the Vietnam Era and was a truck driver.
VISITATION:
MEMORIAL MASS: INTERMENT: Interment of cremated remains will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois with Full Military Honors conducted by members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141. For those who wish, memorials may be given to American Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
