Jacob W. Schrum Dies Here Today At Age 54 Years Jacob W. "Jake" Schrum died at 1:30 p.m. today at his home, 317 south 11th street. His age was 54 years, 11 months and 21 days. Mr. Schrum was a truck driver for the East Side Lumber Co. for three years and for the Jefferson Lumber Co. for 18 years. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Bird Green officiating, and burial will be in Laird cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Schrum was born November 15, 1896 in Belle Rive, the son of Elmer J. and Lucy N. (McCord) Schrum. He was married September 16, 1926 to Alma Gregory, who survives. Mr. Schrum was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and Rebekah Lodge. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lucy Schrum of Belle Rive; one son, Cpl. George L. Schrum of the U.S. Army; two step-sons, Russell Austin of DeKalb, ILL., and Gail Austin of Mt. Vernon; four brothers, Chandler of Belle Rive, Ross and Louis of Mt. Vernon and Curtis of Arabia; two sisters, Mrs. George Scrivner of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Oscar Gentle of Bluford; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brothers, Charles.
