Wilferd G. Schumm
Wilferd G. Schumm, 83, of Wayne City died 12:34 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was a retired farmer and Illinois Central Railroad worker. Mr. Schumm was born July 20,1920, in Orient to George William and Sophia Cutt. He married Marian Opal (Lowery) Schumm Feb. 24, 1946, in West Frankfort; she survives. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at East Hickory Hill Church in Bluford. The Rev. Gale Breeze will officiate. Burial will follow in East Hickory Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City. Mr. Schumm is survived by his wife, Marian Schumm of Wayne City; sons Wilferd Dale Schumm of Wayne City and David Lynn Schumm and wife Laverne of Keenes; daughters Aramintha Carol Dixon of Bridgeport and Patricia Ann Schumm of St. Peters, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Charles Schumm and wife Betty of Bluford; and a sister, Cevern Joan Bouchep of Centralia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Mt. Schumm was a tech 5 sergent in World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945 in the European theater with the 440th troop carrier group 98th squadron of the 8th Army.
