MOUNT VERNON -- Joe H. Scott Jr., 52, died at 12:26 p.m. Monday, May 23, 1988, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Hughey Funeral home, with burial in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Scott was a truck driver for Henderson Trucking Co. in Salem.

He was a Baptist.

He was born May 10, 1936, in Mount Vernon to Joe and Nellie (Howard) Scott.

He married Karen Cowden in 1982. She survives.

Other survivors include seven sons, Joe Scott III, Curtis, Jimmy, David, Kevein, Jeremy and Charles Scott, all of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Karen and Kandi Scott, both of Mount Vernon; his stepfather, John Connaway of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Jim and Jean Scott, both of Mount Vernon; one sister, Nora Collins of Mount Vernon; and 14 grandchildren.

One son, one brother and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
