Bertram Adrian Sechrest
Bertram Adrian Sechrest, 45, of Granite City and formerly of Mt. Vernon, died 11 pm June 23, 1990, at University Hospital of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich. Mr. Sechrest was a truck driver for Brissette Enterprises, and was an ordained minister of the Non Denominational Church in Granite City. He was born Jan. 11, 1945, in Jereyville, a son of Ullon "Jack" and Vera Mae (Weller) Sechrest. July 18, 1964, in Granite City, he married Jeanette "Susie" Copland, who survives. Services will be 1 pm Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 pm today at the funeral home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sechrest is survived by his father of Mt. Vernon; stepmother, Opal Sechrest of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Susan) Hoese of Saint Johnsbury, Vt., and Mrs. Jeff (Sonja) Stewart and Ullona Mae Sechrest, both of Granite City; two sons, Bertram A. Sechrest Jr. of St. Charles, Mo., and Ullon A. Sechrest of Granite City; two brothers, Greg Sechrest and wife, Paula, of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Vera Jean) Bloomquist of Granite City and Lois Elaine Tetrault of Tucson, Ariz.; one stepbrother, Randy Ratliff and wife, Valarie, of Belle Rive; three stepsisters, Mrs. Mark (Theresa) White of Belle Rive, Mrs. Michael (Angela) Hart of Opdyke, and Rita Ratliff of Mt. Vernon; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sechrest was a Navy veteran, serving from 1962 to 1965. He was a member of Non Denominational Church of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Bob Sechrest.
