Vera Mae Sechrest, 16, Granite City, died 6:15 a.m. June 12, 1998, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 21, 1982, in Granite City, a daughter of Susan Sechrest.

The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with Robert Cox officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

Vera Mae was a member of Church of Christ, Alton.

Survivors include her mother, Susan Sechrest Gibbear, and step father, Mark Gibbear, of Granite City; grandmother Jeanette Sechrest of Granite City; great-grandmother Lillie White of Granite City; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
