William A. Sechrest

Wm. A. Sechrest Died Early Today; Be Buried Tomorrow

Wm. A. Sechrest died at the family home on North Eleventh Street, this morning at 2 o'clock.

Mr. Sechrest was born in Lawrence County, Ill., Feb. 11, 1856, and had lived in Jefferson County a period of 60 years.

He is survived by his widow, who before marriage was Lorena C. Brookman, and three sons and four daughters, as follows; Harry Sechrest, Salem, Ill., Joel Sechrest, Mt. Vernon; Charles Sechrest, Jerseyville and Mrs. George Nelson, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Omar Puckett, Jerseyville; Mrs. Barnard Davis, Panama, Ill., and Mrs. William Mayo, Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Haley, Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Sechrest was a son of the late Joel Sechrest and wife.

In the days of his active life Mr. Sechrest engaged in farming, but retired some years ago.

Mr. Sechrest was a member of the Wesley M. E. Church and a highly respected citizen and had many friends in Mt. Vernon and in the county outside Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at Hopewell and burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will remain at the home until the funeral hour.
