Barbara Jean (Plemons) Settle
INA - Barbara Jean Settle , 71, died at 3:37 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007, in St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born May 18, 1936, in Athens, Tenn., to Lush and Thelma (Williams) Plemons. She married Marvin Lee Settle on Nov. 18, 1953, in Mount Vernon. He preceded her in death April 23, 1983. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, in Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, with the Rev. Russell Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery in Ina. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, at the funeral home. Survivors include children, Cathy Vaughn and husband, Bob, of Herrin, Daniel Settle of Mount Vernon; Samuel "Hoby" Settle and wife, Karen, of Bluford, Julie LaFreniere and husband, Ed, of Ludington, Mich., Matthew Settle and wife, Charity, of Ina and Darla Adkins and husband, Rick, of Mount Vernon; stepson, Charles Lee Settle and wife, Susan, of South Fulton, Tenn.; special friend, Martin Tigler of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Eulas Plemons and wife, Florence, of North Carolina and Jimmy Plemons of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Geraldine Moore and husband, Jim, of Oxford, Ohio. She was of Christian faith. Barbara liked country dancing and raising flowers. She was a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and a sister.
