Wilma “Babe” Shaffer, 75, of Ina died March 20, 2003, at her home.

Mrs. Shaffer was born March 15, 1928, in West Frankfort to James F. and Sarah Grace (Johnston) Wells.

She married Arthur H. Shaffer March 15, 1946, in Mt. Vernon; he survives.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina. Brother Brad Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Cubb Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister, Velma Lee Rhynes of Ina; four brothers, Stanley Wells and wife Louise of Ina, James Wells and wife Betty of Myrtle Point, Ore, Charles Wells and wife Janet of Ina, and Carl Wells and wife Eleny of Spanaway, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, JoAnn Leffler and Lorene Osborn.
