Alice M. Shaw, 89, of Mt. Vernon died 3:50 p.m. Aug. 16, 2005, at Nature Trail Health Care Center.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Shaw was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Bluford to William J. and Maude (Voyles) Bean.

She first married Raymond Vannatta March 28, 1937; he died Dec. 24, 1965.

She later married Arvil O. Shaw Nov. 14, 1967, in Bluford; he died March 14, 1993.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Oakdale Cemetery north of Bluford. The Rev. Gale Breeze will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by a sister, Leona Vannatta of Mt. Vernon; a stepson, Larry Shaw and wife Sharon of Bluford; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Shaw was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1376 of Mt. Vernon and American Legion Auxiliary Webber post in Bluford.
