Ivan Shields Dies at Age 66; Funeral Sunday Ivan Taylor Shields, 66, of Route 7, Mt. Vernon, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a retired bakery worker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dex, with the Rev. Rosemary Harris officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Shields was born November 25, 1902, in Dix, the son of David B. and Minnie Bell (Walker) Shields. In 1938, in Mt. Vernon, he was married to Bertha Green, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Beverly J. Edmondson of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Lovin and Mrs. Hazel Breeze, both of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Mary Louise Lowery of Richmond, Calif.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Shields, Wendell Shields and Charlie Shields. Mr. Shields was a member of Union Chapel Methodist church.
