Ida SHIPLEY Dies At 102; One Of Two Oldest Residents Mrs. Ida SHIPLEY, at age 102 and six months one of the two oldest residents of Jefferson county, was dead upon arrival at 11:35 p.m. yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. SHIPLEY was horn on July 28, 1872 in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood of Jefferson county. Mrs. Sarah SUMMER, a resident of Hickory Grove Manor Nursing Home, was born the same day in the same neighborhood, and the two ladies remained friends throughout their lives. Mrs. SHIPLEY lived with her daughter, Mrs. Cora FLANNIGAN, at 900 Conger Ave., and in her later years occupied herself making quilts as a hobby, threading the needle herself. Ater injuring her hip some years ago, she walked with the aid of a walker. Mrs. SHIPLEY was married to Frank SHIPLEY, who preceded her in death. Three of her eight children, Mrs. FLANNIGAN, Arthur FRAZIER, of Plainfield, and Mrs. Beulah STOVER of Mt. Vernon, survive. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist church. Funeral arrangements were incomplete this morning.
