Thomas Angus Short
Thomas A. Short dies at age 73; rites Wednesday Thomas Angus Short, of 2501 Casey Avenue, died at 11:10 p.m. Sunday in Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 73 years, one month and 23 days. Mr. Short, retired, was a former maintenance man at the Mt. Vernon Township High School. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Short was born Nov. 2, 1893, in Jefferson county, the son of Thomas B. and Jane (Garrison) Short. In 1921, at Covington, Ind., he was married to Nellie Prouse, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, Tommy Short of Richmond Heights, Mo., William L. Short of Hammond, Ind., and Robert Short of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Patterson and Mrs. Betsy Biggerstaff, both of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Short was a member of Park Avenue Baptist church.
