Effie Florene (Bennett) Reed Shrum
Died Late Sunday at Family Home; Funeral Tuesday Mrs. George Shrum died at the family home near Dahlgren Sunday afternoon at six o'clock. She suffered a stroke of apralysis about four months ago from which she never recovered. Her age was 62 years, four months and 24 days. Mrs. Shrum was a highly respecgted resident of her locality and had many friends. Funearl services will be held in Laird church in Pendleton township, Tuesday afaternoon at one o'clock conducted by the Rev. Robert Leib. Burial will follow in the cemetery nearby.
Source: Probably Mt. Vernon Register News Note from Sandy: Effie was born January 18, 1871 and died November 11, 1933.Effie is the daughter of of John J. Bennett (1825-1892) and Bethany Ann Montgomery (1831-1896). John J. and my great-great-grandfather, Andrew Wilson Bennett are brothers.
Relationship: 1st cousin, 3 times removed (on my dad's side of the family) Effie first married Humes B. Reed (1863-1948) on June 10, 1890 in Jefferson County. They had one daughter, Ruthie May Reed (1891-1972). Effie married second husband, George Wesley Shrum, January 2, 1905. They had one daughter, Alta Florence Shrum (1907-1982). |
