Delbert Sigwerth Of Mt. Vernon Died At Age 63 (Photo Included) Delbert N. Sigwerth, 63, 76 Cottonwood Drive, died at 2:25 a.m. Jan. 14, 1987, at his residence. Mr. Sigwerth was born July 24, 1923, in Waltonville, the son of J. W. and Mina (Johnson) Sigwerth. He first married Betty Thompson. She died Sept 11, 1980. He then married on May 31, 1981, in Mt. Vernon, to Trudy Trout Hickle, who survives. Mr. Sigwerth was employed by the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory for 30 years. He then worked for the Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department until failing health. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert “Bob” Deitz officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In addition to his second wife, Mr. Sigwerth is survived by two sons, Keith A. Sigwerth and wife Mary Cay of Mahomet and John N. Sigwerth and wife Glenda of Mt. Vernon; one stepson, Rodney Hickle and wife Sandra of Herrin; one brother, Stanley Sigwerth of Benton Harbor, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Slosson of Benton Harbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Michael and Jeffery Sigwerth; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sigwerth was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church. He served in the Army during World War II. He was an active member of the Mt. Vernon Kiwanis Club until failing health. He was a member of VFW Post 1376, American Association of Retired Persons and the Sunshine Center, all of Mt. Vernon. He was also president of the local union at the shoe factory for many years. Mr. Sigwerth was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his first wife.
