Henry Simmons, 80, 805 S. 25th St., died at 4:25 A.M. on December 30, 1981 in Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was an agent for the Metropolitan Insurance Co. for 22 years, retiring in March, 1966.

Mr. Simmons was born in Jefferson County, March 16, 1901, the son of Carroll and Elizabeth (Blosser) Simmons.

On May 17, 1933, in Shelbyville, he married Opal M. Shinn, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Robert C. Simmons of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Simmons was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston and attended the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Stanford officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and his parents.
