Leslie Wayne Simmons, 67, of Dix died on Monday morning Dec. 9, 2002, at his home.

He was born on Mov. 10, 1935, in Boyd, son of Harold and Nora (Carpenter) Simmons.

He is survived by his father of Dix: three sons, Jimmy Wayne Simmons of Savannah Ga., Leslie Wayne Simmons and wife Debra Kay of Dix and Ryan Dewayne Simmons of Ashley; a daughter, Tamara Lee Ince of Mt. Vernon; a brother Larry Simmons of Mt. Vernon and 20 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and by a sister-in-law, Nelda Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was retired from Local 520, Operating Engineers. He was a member of Boyd Christian Church. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Lodge 31,A.F. & A.M.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Bruce Hough officiating. Interment will be in Boyd Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
